Austin Arts Meetup A Success!

Yesterday about 35-40 members of the Austin Arts Community gathered to mix and mingle at Uncorked Wine Bar on East 7th Street. Every time we have one of these meetups I get really excited. Its not just that we get to do a fun event for a good cause. More so its that when we have one of these, so many different types of people come.

With the transition from ACoT to the Creative Alliance it has been so exciting to be able to include many different artistic pursuits under our umbrella organization . Yesterday I talked to: Some new A-Team members, A few musicians, a programmer or two, filmmakers, several photographers and graphic artists, actors and directors, Theatre owners, Arts administrators and the list goes on and on. The best part of it is looking around and seeing folks talking to people maybe a tad bit outside their comfort zone. Agreeing to go see each others work, finding ways to connect on projects, saying hi to people they recognized from the last meet up but haven’t seen since.

The Austin Arts meetup is a monthly informal get together for all arts folks in Austin, and an opportunity to mix and mingle with those you know, and those you don’t, and in this case, to help support an Austin Arts group at the same time! Stay tuned for details about our January Austin Arts Meetup! Its sure to be a great time! Spread the word!

We came. We mingled.We met new people. We put names to email address or photos, names or bylines. It was lovely, on a personal note, to see so many art supporters making it out on a slightly chilly night, to eat fabulous cheese and have a drink from House Wine, and learn more about the Greater Austin Creative Alliance and bond with our creative community.
