You may have seen Jessica Thompson’s smiling face at the front of the ACoT auditions, or out and about around town in her role as ACoT’s Outreach Director. But who is she? What exactly does an Outreach Director do?

Now for the proffesional stuff!
Jessica Thompson currently serves as the Outreach Director of Austin Circle of
Theaters in Austin, TX. Through her position, she facilitates collaboration
between arts organizations encompassing all disciplines, as well as outreach
and sponsorship coordination within the Austin community. Thompson handles
the event management and orchestration of the annual citywide arts awareness
campaign, Get Your Art On, which celebrates National Arts and Humanities
Month. In addition, Thompson handles event management for the B. Iden Payne Awards as well as the promotional and administrative support of the citywide Community Arts Month to be held each April. Thompson also acts as the point person for the newly created Austin Emerging Art Leaders
network and coordinates with the Americans for the Arts.
Previously, Thompson lived in Madison, WI where she was the founding director
of the Foundation of Retaining Creative Energy (FoRCE), which serves artists
and musicians in professional development and support. FoRCE was the first to
offer healthcare and liability insurance options to artists in Dane County,
WI. and inspired Arts Wisconsin to offer coverage to all artists in Wisconsin.
Under FoRCE, she provided operational supervision for all programs including
the Healthcare Membership Plan, Open Art Studios, ContessaSays.com Cultural
Magazine, Forza Gallery for Emerging Artists, the Madison Citywide Arts Crawl,
and Leigh Artistic Promotions. While in Madison, Thompson was elected to the
AFTA Emerging Leaders Council, co-hosted the 2007 Emerging Leaders of
Wisconsin Summit, and served as vice-president of the board of directors for
the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art’s young professional group, Art
