Fathers Day Fun Times

As I’m sure you know, Father’s Day is this Sunday June 19.  And if you didn’t know, stop reading this and go buy dad a present.

In honor of all the fathers we know and love, here is a list of father-tested, father-approved events going on this weekend with the corresponding 80’s tv dads who would enjoy them.

For the Cliff Huxtable type fathers, there is the Father’s Day Concert in the Park on Sunday at 7:30.  The whole family is welcome (Rudy, Theo, Vanessa, etc) to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy show tunes and band classics at the Zilker Hillside Theater.

For the more rugged, Dan Conner types, perhaps a play concerning cavemen would be more appropriate.  Lets face it, being married to Roseanne can’t be easy, thats why we suggest taking a laugh at Defending the Cavemen at the Long Center.  This “hilariously insightful” comedy about the squabbles between men and women runs all weekend. But beware- the show contains adult language.

Or perhaps your father is more into the unconventional family-friendly atmosphere like Steven Keaton. In that case, The Vortex offers you the CircX VorteX Father’s Day Carnival on Sunday at 5.  Complete with live surf rock, animal and human circus acts, (PG rated) burlesque comedy , unicycle, juggling, hoola hoop stunts, belly dancing, fire arts, hot dogs, bbq, and more.  An eclectic mix for an eclectic family.

But maybe your dad is just a good ol’ Jason Seaver.  It’s surely been a hectic week having to deal with the antics of Mike, Carol, Ben, (and possibly Leonardo DiCaprio depending on what season it is).  And at the end of the week, you just need to unwind and laugh.  That’s where ColdTowne Theatre All-Stars come in. Enjoy some side-splitting, ever-changing improv at 7:00 this and every Sunday.
